We
provide an overnight specimen pick-up for clients outside the metropolitan area
using Toll Priority couriers. Results may be obtained via electronic delivery , telephoned or sent by facsimile in the first instance, then hard copy of the
result is returned via Toll Priority.
“Sixer”
Eskies are used to transport specimens
to the laboratory and to return reports and supplies of consumables. A regular
client would require three eskies in circulation to ensure that an esky is
always available to send further specimens. Each esky contains an inner
container lined with a formaldehyde absorbent and neutralizer pad. The specimens
should be placed inside this container, either in biohazard bags with the
request form, or if there are too many bottles, the bottles alone may be sealed
in the container, with the forms placed in a biohazard bag inside the esky.
Prepaid freight
notes are supplied for esky return to our
laboratory. These are already addressed to Gramp Skin Pathology as
‘receiver’. They have a peel off backing and are stuck onto the lid of the
esky.
Packaging tape
is supplied to secure the esky lid. The carrier cannot guarantee safe arrival if
the lid is not sealed.
Supplies of request forms of any sort, specimen containers pre-filled with fixative, and biohazard bags may be ordered on our ‘Consumables Request Form’ or over the phone.
We
maintain a log of your interactions with us which allows us to monitor your
consumables usage. In this way we try to re-supply you with consumables before
they become depleted. Don't hesitate to contact us if you
require any supplies. We will respond to your request overnight.
Please Note:
Specimens for histopathology should be placed in fixative promptly. Once
in fixative the specimens do not require either refrigeration or an ‘ice brick’ for transportation in the esky to the laboratory.
Should you experience any problems with specimen pick-up and delivery, please do not hesitate to contact Margaret Mount.
